Our client is an international retail company operating a network of stores specializing in toys, stationery, household accessories, and other family-oriented consumer products. The company is focused on developing modern retail concepts, delivering exceptional customer experiences, and building a sustainable and profitable business across multiple markets. As part of its regional growth strategy, the company is seeking an experienced Managing Director to establish, develop, and lead its local operations.

Position Overview

The Managing Director will be responsible for the overall management and development of the company's operations in the country, including retail network expansion, store development, operational leadership, financial performance, and team management. This role combines strategic planning with hands-on execution and requires close collaboration with international stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute a country-wide expansion strategy aligned with the Group's growth objectives
• Identify and secure high-potential retail locations through market research, consumer traffic analysis, and competitor benchmarking
• Lead negotiations of commercial lease agreements and retail real estate contracts
• Build and maintain strong relationships with landlords, real estate agencies, and property developers to ensure a sustainable pipeline of new locations
• Oversee the launch and operational readiness of new stores
• Ensure consistent implementation of brand standards and customer service excellence across all locations
• Recruit, build, develop, and lead a high-performing local team
• Represent the company and its brands within the local market
• Manage day-to-day operations while ensuring compliance with Group standards, policies, and procedures
• Take full ownership of the country's P&L performance
• Monitor and optimize revenue, costs, and profitability across the business
• Analyze financial and operational performance of each store and implement improvement initiatives
• Lead the preparation of annual budgets, business plans, and investment proposals supporting expansion and operational improvements
• Collaborate closely with Group and regional teams to ensure strategic alignment and successful implementation of corporate initiatives
• Monitor market trends, consumer behavior, and retail innovations to identify growth opportunities
• Provide regular reports and business updates to Group leadership regarding expansion progress, financial results, and potential risks

Qualifications and Required Skills

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business Administration, Management, Economics, or a related field
• Minimum 10 years of experience within the retail industry
• At least 5 years of experience in retail network expansion, retail real estate, or multi-site operations management
• Proven track record of developing retail networks and successfully opening new stores
• Strong P&L management experience with demonstrated financial accountability
• Excellent negotiation skills and experience managing commercial lease agreements
• Strong leadership, communication, and team management capabilities
• Fluent English language skills
• Highly analytical mindset with strong business acumen and problem-solving abilities
• Entrepreneurial approach, resilience, and ability to operate independently in a fast-growing environment.
